Real Estate Strategy & Reporting Intern | Circle K

The Tone:
This is an internship at Circle K, located in Charlotte, NC. Circle K is a global convenience store chain operating a vast network of retail locations. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to learn how data, analytics, and strategy inform significant real estate investment decisions across its operations. This position contributes to meaningful, real-world projects that impact the company’s growth and efficiency at a global scale.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time (16–20 hours/week during academic semester), Full-time (up to 40 hours/week during school breaks)
• Location: In-person, Charlotte, NC

• Team: Reports to the Manager of Real Estate Strategy & Reporting
• Mission: This role supports portfolio strategy, site selection analytics, and executive reporting to turn complex datasets into actionable business insights that inform real business decisions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, Alteryx, GIS systems, Google Earth

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Support real estate strategy and analytics projects through research, data development, and financial or pro forma modeling.
• Data Management: Build, validate, and maintain store-level datasets used for analytics and reporting, including location attributes, square footage, and opening dates.
• Performance Analysis: Contribute to ad-hoc analyses by leveraging store performance data, financial metrics, and market-level insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Process Documentation: Assist in documenting processes, methodologies, and best practices related to real estate analytics and reporting.
• Team Coordination: Support team members with coordination of communications, organization of analytical outputs, and maintenance of shared data and tools.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience: Working knowledge of data analysis concepts and comfort learning new tools or methodologies, with availability to work 16–20 hours per week during academic semesters and up to 40 hours per week during school breaks.
• Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, and data organization techniques), intermediate proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for clear and concise communication, strong written and verbal communication skills, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Bonus: Major or coursework in business, analytics, geography, finance, real estate, economics, or a related field; experience with SharePoint or other document management tools; exposure to Power BI, Alteryx, GIS systems, or location-based analytics tools; and a curiosity, initiative, and desire to learn how analytics supports real estate and corporate strategy.
