What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide comprehensive Labor and Delivery nursing care to patients, including thorough assessment and monitoring.
• Administer crucial medications and therapies such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and blood products, while initiating and maintaining peripheral IVs.
• Assist in various delivery scenarios, ranging from routine vaginal births to high-risk C-sections, forceps/vacuum extractions, and management of hemorrhage.
• Perform comprehensive newborn care immediately post-delivery, including APGAR scores, neonatal resuscitation, assessments, and identification.
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring (EFM, IUPC) effectively, recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Labor and Delivery.
• Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, along with prior travel nursing experience. First-time travelers and local applicants are not accepted.
• Skills: Current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate course certifications are required. Proficiency in Cerner charting, non-stress tests (NST), managing complex obstetric conditions (e.g., pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple gestation), administering anesthesia (epidural, general, opioids), and providing postpartum care (fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment).
