Athletic Trainer Certified II | Detroit Medical Center

The Tone:
This is a PRN (as needed) role at DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, located in Detroit, MI. The DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research, known for clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics, and catastrophic injury care. This role is crucial for delivering exceptional patient care through developing and administering treatment plans, supporting patient progress, and promoting community health initiatives within a supportive and collaborative healthcare environment.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports under the general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Mission: Develops and administers patient treatment plans, designs training and fitness programs, and spearheads community health education projects to support rehabilitation and wellness.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Treatment: Develops and administers established treatment plans for physical therapy patients under general supervision.
• Program Development: Independently develops training and fitness programs at the direction of management, and assists with marketing these programs.
• Community Outreach: Develops and administers community service projects, including personal health clinics for schools, community centers, and on-site staff.
• Collaborative Care: Collaborates with Physical Therapists to develop therapeutic exercise and sports injury programs, assessing patient progress throughout their journey.
• Equipment Management: Prepares and monitors therapeutic equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks, paraffin baths, and hot packs, performing minor repairs as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited Athletic Trainer Certified Program, with current NATA Board of Certification Inc. certification.
• Experience: Three years of experience with a minimum of one year in a clinical setting; completion of Level 2 of the Sports Medicine curriculum.
• Skills: Current license to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan; ability to develop and administer treatment and training programs; proficiency in assessing patient progress and performing billing procedures.
• Bonus: A minimum of 60 points in the professional development category of a performance appraisal, with at least 16 hours of outreach across a minimum of 6 outreach events.
