Program Intern- Fall | BakerRipley

The Tone:
This is a part-time, hybrid internship at BakerRipley, located in the Houston region. As a member of BakerRipley’s Internship program, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking department dedicated to advancing the organization’s impact. The role reports to the administrative-based programs and is crucial for supporting outreach efforts, achieving program outcomes, and handling various administrative duties. This position seeks a proactive and resourceful team member to assist in diverse projects, provide general office support, and deliver excellent customer service. This internship offers flexible scheduling and a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit program planning, community engagement, and project management, alongside mentorship from Workforce Solutions Staff.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Conduct direct outreach to families regarding eligibility documentation, case assignments, and job search support, actively promoting developmental screenings, completing Family Services Plans, and connecting clients with essential community resources.
• Program Coordination: Assist significantly in the planning and preparation of Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) training sessions, which includes assembling necessary training materials and coordinating logistical details.
• Data Management & Reporting: Accurately track and document all client interactions, follow-ups, and service outcomes using established spreadsheets and internal systems to maintain comprehensive records.
• Community & Marketing Support: Actively participate in community events to promote specific CCS programs and engage with potential clients, while also creating and revising marketing materials to enhance outreach and program visibility.
• Service Improvement Project: Collaboratively work with a mentor to identify a specific service gap or opportunity for improvement within Family Services, then design and implement a project to address this need, contributing meaningfully to the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must be a current college student or possess an Associate’s degree in any field. This role offers the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit operations and the Family Services division.
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of prior work experience, demonstrating readiness for professional responsibilities and contributing to team objectives.
• Skills: Proficiency in core computer applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, is required to manage administrative tasks and data effectively. Ability to develop professional communication skills through client outreach and internal collaboration.
• Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred to better serve the diverse client base and enhance community engagement.
