The Tone:

Friona Industries LP operates a feedyard, where this role is essential for ensuring the smooth daily functioning of its extensive grounds and facilities. The Assistant Yard Maintenance Manager will play a key part in managing, maintaining, and repairing all aspects of the yard, from pens to roadways, directly contributing to efficient feedyard operations and the care of cattle.

• Team: Reports to the Yard Manager, assisting with daily operations.
• Mission: Ensure efficient and functional feedyard operations through effective maintenance, repair, and supervision of yard activities and crew.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordination: Help coordinate and allocate tasks and responsibilities to the yard crew to ensure efficient and timely completion of work.
• Maintenance: Assist with the repair and maintenance of all pens and cattle care facilities, addressing needs on a priority basis.
• Infrastructure: Ensure that all roadways and alleys across the feedyard are consistently maintained in the correct order of priority.
• Safety: Implement and enforce all company safety policies and regulations to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.
• Supervision: Supervise all maintenance activities conducted within the shop, ensuring quality and adherence to operational standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Managerial role requiring a background in agriculture, gained through a degree, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery, perform and supervise pen maintenance, and manage operational expenses effectively. Possession of a working knowledge of feedyard operations is essential.
• Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge, proficient recordkeeping for expenses and environmental data, practical knowledge of watering system functionalities, and basic construction and maintenance skills.
• Bonus: A preferred degree in Agriculture.
