Maintenance Director | Ahava Healthcare

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Ahava Healthcare, located in Memphis, Tennessee. Ahava Healthcare operates a skilled nursing facility, providing essential care to its residents. As Maintenance Director, you will lead all aspects of building maintenance and safety for the facility. This critical role ensures the physical environment is safe, functional, and compliant with all relevant regulations, directly contributing to the well-being and security of residents and staff. You will be a key leader in maintaining a stable and supportive environment for the entire community.

• Mission: To proactively lead all aspects of building maintenance and facility safety, ensuring continuous operational excellence and strict regulatory compliance within a skilled nursing environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Regulatory Compliance: Proactively ensure the entire community remains in strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to Life Safety Code. This includes regularly inspecting systems and procedures to meet legal and safety standards for a healthcare facility.
• Policy & Procedure Management: Annually review and thoroughly assess the department’s existing policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions. Based on this review, you will make informed recommendations for revisions and updates to the Administrator, ensuring all documentation is current and effective.
• Financial Oversight & Budgeting: Take ownership of preparing comprehensive operating and staffing budgets specifically for the maintenance department. You will then actively monitor these budgets on a monthly basis to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.
• Team Leadership & Development: Directly lead, supervise, and mentor other staff members within the Maintenance Department. This includes overseeing their daily work ethic, performance, and adherence to facility standards and safety protocols.
• Administrative & Confidentiality Duties: Execute any and all related tasks as specifically assigned by either the Administrator or the Regional Maintenance Director. This also encompasses diligently maintaining the confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI), whether communicated verbally, in writing, or electronically, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A director-level professional possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, with a foundational understanding of plant operations, building systems, and safety protocols critical for a healthcare facility.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a supervisory capacity within a maintenance or plant-related position is required. This experience should demonstrate leadership in managing teams and overseeing facility operations.
• Skills: Proven ability to ensure Life Safety Code compliance, expertise in preparing and monitoring departmental budgets, strong skills in staff supervision and performance management, proficiency in reviewing and updating policies and procedures, and a solid understanding of long-term care regulatory environments.
• Bonus: Previous, direct experience specifically as a Maintenance Director in a long-term care setting is highly preferred. This includes a demonstrated capability to navigate and meticulously follow complex healthcare-specific regulations and guidelines.
