Athletic Director – Part-time (26-27 SY) | Freire Schools

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Freire Schools, located in Wilmington, DE. Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools committed to preparing students from historically underserved communities for success in college and beyond. What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive athletic program that aligns with the school’s mission and values, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
• Logistics Management: Coordinate and manage all logistics related to practices, games, and tournaments, including transportation and facility usage.
• Student Support: Collaborate with school administration, teachers, and parents to ensure that student-athletes maintain academic success and promote social-emotional growth through athletics.
• Policy Implementation: Implement and enforce policies and procedures related to athletic eligibility, behavior, and safety.
• Financial Oversight: Oversee budgetary considerations for the athletic department and make fiscally responsible decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree; previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, or related roles.
• Experience: Previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, or related roles, with a willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by the athletic schedule.
• Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire coaches and student-athletes; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of rules and regulations governing high school athletics; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the athletic program; organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
