What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive activities program designed to enrich the lives of residents.
• Activity Development: Develop a diverse range of engaging recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities.
• Event & Calendar Management: Create monthly activity calendars and organize special events that foster community and joy.
• Resident-Centered Engagement: Encourage resident participation by tailoring activities to individual interests and abilities.
• Team & Regulatory Oversight: Supervise and support activity staff and volunteers, maintain required documentation, ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to enhance residents’ overall quality of life.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess the eligibility to obtain an Activity Director Certification, demonstrating foundational knowledge in planning and leading resident-focused programs. The role requires a Director-level understanding of comprehensive activity program development for long-term care residents.
• Experience: No specific number of years of experience is mandated for this role.
• Skills: Exhibit strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple programs and schedules efficiently. Demonstrate excellent communication skills for engaging with residents, staff, and the interdisciplinary team. Possess proven leadership skills to guide and motivate activity staff and volunteers. Display a creative, energetic, and compassionate approach crucial for successful resident engagement. Possess the practical ability to effectively plan, organize, and lead both group activities and personalized one-on-one sessions.
• Bonus: Hold an existing Activity Director Certification. Bring previous experience gained within a long-term care or skilled nursing setting, which will be highly valued.
