What You’ll Actually Do
• Own end-to-end billing operations, including pre-bill review, invoice generation, and ensuring overall billing accuracy.
• Partner with attorneys and paralegals to ensure timely and accurate time entry that aligns with firm billing standards.
• Manage client retainer tracking, monitor replenishment needs, and coordinate trust account activities.
• Oversee accounts receivable, produce aging reports, and implement proactive collections processes to optimize cash flow.
• Produce comprehensive monthly reports on utilization, realization, collections, and work-in-progress trends for leadership.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, coupled with prior experience managing billing operations for a law firm.
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in the billing process and invoicing, with the ability to manage end-to-end billing in a professional services or legal environment, including hands-on experience with Clio and its billing system for data accuracy and workflow improvement.
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data, generate reports, and identify trends; excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines; clear, professional communication skills for effective collaboration with attorneys, staff, and clients; and knowledge of revenue cycle management principles, including accounts receivable and cash flow optimization.
