Membership Intern | Austin PBS
The Tone:
This is an internship at Austin PBS, located in Austin, TX. Austin PBS is your locally owned, community-supported PBS station in Central Texas, operating as a mission-driven nonprofit media organization. This role matters because the Membership Intern supports the Austin PBS Membership team in its mission to grow and engage a community of donors who make public media possible. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development and donor engagement, ideal for students interested in public media, membership programs, and fundraising.

• Mission: This person supports the Austin PBS Membership team in growing and engaging a community of donors who make public media possible.
• Tech Stack: Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Canva (preferred), Nonprofit CRM systems
What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Creation: Produce well-crafted, engaging copy for fundraising and membership-related emails directed to members and prospective members.
• Campaign Coordination: Assist with managing the project flow for various membership campaigns, including Raffles, Quarterly On-Air Pledge Drives, Vehicle Donations, and Planned Giving.
• Event Implementation: Support the Membership Manager in the comprehensive planning and successful implementation process of the Winter Membership On-Air Fund Drive and Giving Tuesday.
• Website Management: Evaluate, provide edits to, and create engaging website content as it relates to membership initiatives and campaigns.
• Database Operations: Assist with membership database and fundraising operations projects, which include data quality reviews, campaign preparation, and constituent record maintenance, while gaining hands-on experience with nonprofit CRM systems.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current undergraduate student, actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program during the full duration of the internship. This is an entry-level position ideal for students interested in public media, membership programs, and fundraising.
• Experience: No specific years of prior professional experience required. Proficiency in using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel is necessary for data management. A cover letter is required for consideration.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to craft compelling narratives for storytelling. Must be willing to collaborate effectively, accept feedback constructively, and learn new tools or systems relevant to the role.
• Bonus: Experience working with Canva is preferred for creating visual content.
