Director, Retail Training | Samsung
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Samsung, located in Plano, TX. Samsung is a leader in mobile technologies, consumer electronics, home appliances, enterprise solutions, and networks systems. This role is crucial for building world-class learning experiences and content that directly drive measurable increases in recommendation rate, brand advocacy, and sell-through for Samsung Electronics America. It ensures retail and field teams are equipped to effectively sell and advocate for Samsung products.

• Mission: Define and own the end-to-end retail and field training strategy across direct-to-consumer and indirect channels to measurably drive sales and recommendation rate.
• Tech Stack: Cornerstone OnDemand, Workday Learning, SAP Litmos, Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, retail partner portals, digital signage platforms, mobile-first LMS applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Training Strategy: Define and own the end-to-end retail and field training strategy, aligning training objectives with Samsung’s go-to-market priorities and commercial goals.
• Product Launch Training: Develop comprehensive product launch implementation strategies, including content development and post-launch evaluation, for every major product release.
• Curriculum & Content: Manage the development of all retail and field training content, ensuring it is engaging, scalable, and arms personnel with necessary sales and advocacy skills.
• Program Delivery: Oversee the deployment of training programs across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual, e-learning) to national retail partners, independent dealers, and Samsung channels.
• Team & Budget Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing training organization, manage external vendors, and develop and manage the retail and field training budget for strong ROI.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, with 10+ years of progressive experience in training, learning & development, or related functions, including at least 5 years in a senior or director-level leadership role.
• Experience: Proven success designing and delivering retail and/or field training programs in a consumer electronics, technology, or comparable consumer goods environment, spanning direct-to-consumer and indirect channel partner environments. Demonstrated command of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM), and blended learning strategies, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
• Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and digital training platforms. Strong critical thinking ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative data for continuous improvement.
• Bonus: Master’s degree strongly preferred. Experience with Samsung Electronics, a major consumer electronics OEM, or retail organization (Best Buy, Walmart, carrier stores). Deep familiarity with Samsung’s product ecosystem across Mobile, Home Entertainment, Home Appliances, and SmartThings. Professional certification in instructional design (ATD CPTD) or project management (PMP) is a plus. Willingness to travel up to 30%.
