Associate Business Analyst | FirstEnergy

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., located in multiple FirstEnergy major hubs across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. FirstEnergy is a forward-thinking electric utility powered by a diverse team, dedicated to integrity, safety, reliability, and operational excellence. This role is crucial for supporting the company’s significant Transmission portfolio through detailed financial forecasting and analysis, contributing to the financial health and operational efficiency of one of the nation’s largest investor-owned electric systems.

• Team: Works closely with 5-6 Project Managers within the Transmission portfolio
• Mission: Support the $2+B Transmission portfolio with detailed current year and five-year project-level financial forecasting.
• Tech Stack: Unifier, Ecosys, SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CREWS, OPPM, PlannerDash, PowerPlan

What You’ll Actually Do
• Forecasting: Analyze expenditures and recommend necessary forecast adjustments for ongoing projects.
• Budget Management: Participate in planning, prioritizing, tracking, and reporting major projects using the SAP Work Management System, ensuring budget tracking against Purchase Orders or Contracts.
• Financial Reporting: Provide variance analysis and explanations for projects, and prepare journal entries for monthly accruals and correcting entries.
• Project Tracking: Track progress and provide forecasts for the in-service plan, also understanding CIAC/Sales Distribution billing.
• Data Analysis: Conduct business-specific research and perform ad hoc data analysis by extracting and manipulating data from various databases and systems using query tools.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a degree, or 7 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, and financial reporting in lieu of a degree, including a general understanding of the subject matter.
• Skills: High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), strong analytical abilities for moderately complex problems, excellent written and oral communication, and proficiency in SAP, Ecosys, Unifier, CREWS, OPPM, PlannerDash, and PowerPlan.
• Bonus: An advanced degree is a plus; highly motivated with experience working independently and demonstrating high productivity is preferred.
