Investment Banking Associate – Tech Enabled Services | William Blair

The Tone:

This role is crucial for executing in-depth analyses, performing financial modeling, and leading due diligence to support new business development and transaction execution for clients and prospects within the tech-enabled services sector.

• Mission: This person is responsible for performing detailed financial analysis, leading transaction execution, and developing client solutions for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising within the tech-enabled services sector.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Analyses: Perform extensive financial and valuation analyses to determine the value of debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
• Develop Financial Models: Build advanced financial models to assess the value of potential and actual clients or industries, applying a deep understanding of valuation and finance principles.
• Lead Due Diligence: Guide the research, analysis, and documentation phases for potential and live transactions, proactively identifying and communicating potential deal issues.
• Create Client Materials: Develop, produce, and deliver comprehensive proposals and presentations to clients and prospects, showcasing William Blair’s investment banking product solutions.
• Mentor Staff: Provide “on the job” training and constructive feedback to Analysts and Summer Interns, focusing on improving their work product quality.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree required, specializing in financial services, accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the financial services industry preferred. Must acquire SIE Exam prior to beginning employment, and Series 79 and Series 63 within 90 days (for US Campus hires) or 150 days (for US experienced hires).
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills, a deep and sophisticated understanding of accounting and finance, and effective leadership and coaching skills.
• Bonus: MBA strongly preferred.
