City Council District 14 Community Aide/Administrative Assistant | City of Baltimore

The Tone:
This is a part-time, non-civil service position at the City of Baltimore, located in Baltimore, MD. The City of Baltimore is committed to serving its residents and the City Council Office represents distinct districts within the city. This role is vital to supporting Councilwoman Odette Ramos, the first Latine person elected to office in Baltimore City, and her dedicated staff in serving the 14th District through legislative initiatives and community engagement. The Administrative Assistant ensures the smooth operation of the District 14 Council Office, directly contributing to the Councilwoman’s ability to advocate for her constituents and advance significant legislation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Calendar Management: Maintain the Councilwoman’s master calendar and efficiently schedule appointments for meetings, events, working groups, and conference calls.
• Meeting and Event Coordination: Assist with the coordination of various events, meetings, and working groups, including preparing and reviewing all necessary materials and attending as needed.
• Office Administration: Manage general administrative office functions, including obtaining supplies and monitoring office subscription services.
• Project and Research Support: Assist with special projects within the office, which may involve research, problem-solving for neighborhood challenges, and coordinating working groups.
• Constituent Services: Respond to and assist with incoming inquiries from constituents via physical mail, email, fax, and telephone calls.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelors Degree or equivalent preferred, combined with experience in administrative tasks such as scheduling.
• Experience: At least two years of work experience.
• Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills, strong customer service manner, and demonstrated problem-solving and innovative thinking abilities.
• Bonus: Knowledge of Spanish is preferred, and flexibility to work both in the office and remotely is required.
