Private Equity Associate | Selby Jennings
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a leading multi-billion dollar private equity firm, headquartered in San Francisco, California. The firm specializes in healthcare investing, partnering with innovative companies across healthcare services, life sciences, and bio technology-enabled platforms. This Associate position is a key addition to the investment team, playing a central role in evaluating and executing new investment opportunities, as well as actively supporting the firm’s portfolio companies in their strategic development and value creation.

• Mission: This person will evaluate and execute new investment opportunities within the healthcare sector, conduct thorough due diligence, and contribute to the success of existing portfolio companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Evaluate and execute new investment opportunities across the healthcare sector, including preparing investment memos and presenting findings to senior team members and the investment committee.
• Model: Build detailed financial models such as LBOs, operating models, and return analyses, essential for supporting investment decisions.
• Diligence: Conduct comprehensive commercial, financial, and operational diligence processes, which includes market research and competitive analysis.
• Structure: Assist in the structuring and negotiation of various transactions.
• Support: Support portfolio companies directly through performance tracking, strategic initiatives, and overall value creation efforts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance. Possess core domain knowledge acquired through investment banking or buy-side experience, particularly within the healthcare sector.
• Experience: Bring 2-4 years of relevant investment banking or buy-side experience. Demonstrate a track record of working on live transactions and managing diligence processes.
• Skills: Possess a strong financial modeling and analytical skillset. Exhibit excellent communication skills and the capability to operate effectively in a demanding work environment.
• Bonus: Show a demonstrated interest in technology investing and private markets.
