Private Equity Associate | PNC

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-office role at PNC, located in Pittsburgh, PA. Its private equity affiliate, Riverarch Capital, is focused on making control investments in privately held middle-market companies across North America. This role is crucial for supporting the full investment lifecycle, from origination and analysis to closing and ongoing monitoring, contributing to the firm’s strategy of deploying substantial equity capital to acquire and grow well-positioned businesses.

• Mission: To support the full investment lifecycle for control investments in middle-market companies, from deal origination and analysis through closing and ongoing portfolio management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deal Execution: Perform essential analytical and operational activities for both proposed investment deals and existing portfolio investments, operating under the direct guidance and supervision of senior staff professionals.
• Investment Lifecycle Participation: Actively participate across the entire spectrum of investment transactions, including the initial identification of opportunities, origination, detailed analysis, successful closing procedures, and subsequent monitoring of performance.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive and in-depth analyses of prospective new investments. This involves scrutinizing historical and projected financial results, performing thorough industry research, and identifying potential risk factors to determine the acceptability of investments in collaboration with the team.
• Portfolio Company Evaluation: Evaluate various strategic opportunities for existing portfolio companies. This includes assessing potential acquisitions, conducting analyses of comparable companies in anticipation of public offerings, and determining fair market value for recapitalization or other exit scenario analyses.
• Post-Closing Management: Participate in the diligent review of legal documentation both prior to and following the transaction closing. Monitor ongoing compliance issues after investments are finalized, and collaborate closely with internal finance staff to accurately track portfolio performance, valuations, and generate required reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelors Degree. Core domain knowledge related to private equity, investment analysis, and financial services.
• Experience: 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. A comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Skills: Financial Forecasting and Modeling, Financial Statement Analysis, Investments, Business Acumen, Decision Making and Critical Thinking.
