Records Services Student Internship | Southwest Florida Water Management District
The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Southwest Florida Water Management District, located in Brooksville, FL. The District is a government agency dedicated to protecting Florida’s vital water resources, minimizing flood risks, and ensuring public water needs are met for nearly 6 million people. This internship plays a key supporting role in a major five-year Imaging Project, directly contributing to strengthening the District’s records management processes and digital records initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Organize, file, and assist with managing completed File Plans and Digital Records Survey responses for the five-year Imaging Project.
• Collaborate: Work with Records Liaisons to review, confirm, and update all bureau-specific file plans for both paper and electronic records.
• Implement: Enter finalized and updated file plans into SharePoint using the new Microsoft Lists format.
• Assure Compliance: Verify that each record series within the updated file plans aligns with the current General Records Schedule (GS1).
• Process Digitization: Assist in collecting and tracking Digital Records Survey responses, prepare records for imaging, and perform quality assurance checks on digitized materials for accuracy and completeness.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as at least a part-time student in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program.
• Experience: Not specified.
• Skills:
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to accurately file alphabetically and numerically.
• Ability to perform office tasks effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to express oneself effectively to provide information to others.
• Bonus:
• Knowledge of document management systems and digital imaging systems.
• Ability to use computerized business systems, web-based data systems, and other technology to complete work assignments.
• Knowledge of, and ability to use, office support tools (e.g., word processing, email, spreadsheets).
• Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate.
