Social Media Marketing Intern | Jamie’s Hope Foundation
The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship at Jamie’s Hope Foundation, located in Houston, TX. Jamie’s Hope is a Houston-based nonprofit founded by a Stage 4 cancer patient, dedicated to advancing personalized cancer research and supporting families facing cancer. The organization partners with MD Anderson Cancer Center to fund innovative precision oncology research and provide crucial programs that bring hope and practical support. This role is essential for telling the organization’s story, engaging its community, and supporting fundraising initiatives that directly impact cancer research and patient support during a busy campaign season.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal (August–December 2026, 10–15 hours per week)
• Location: Hybrid, Houston, TX
• Mission: This intern will help tell Jamie’s Hope’s story and engage the community during a busy fundraising season to advance personalized cancer research and support families facing cancer.
• Tech Stack: Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush (or similar video editing tools)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Creation: Develop and produce engaging visual and written content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok, ensuring alignment with current trends and best practices.
• Design and Editing: Design impactful graphics using Canva and edit short-form videos suitable for Reels and TikTok.
• Campaign Management: Assist in the planning and execution of seasonal fundraising and awareness campaigns, including the Jamie’s Hope Celebrity Golf Tournament and year-end initiatives.
• Event Coverage: Capture high-quality photo and video content at various fundraising events and community activations.
• Digital Presence Management: Draft compelling captions, manage the social media content calendar, schedule posts, and monitor engagement for community management and performance tracking.
• Marketing Support: Assist with email marketing, website updates, and other general marketing projects, ensuring consistency in Jamie’s Hope’s brand voice.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
• Experience: Experience creating engaging social media content, including graphics, photos, videos, and short-form content; familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok) and current content trends and best practices; proficiency in Canva and basic video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar tools.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences; detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; self-motivated, creative, and eager to learn while working both independently and collaboratively; comfortable attending occasional evening or weekend fundraising events to capture content and support marketing efforts; ability to maintain Jamie’s Hope’s brand voice and represent the organization professionally.
• Bonus: Experience with Wix or other website content management systems; experience with email marketing platforms (iContact, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar); familiarity with event management or nonprofit fundraising platforms such as OneCause; experience with Meta Business Suite and LinkedIn for scheduling and analytics; photography and/or videography experience; previous volunteer or nonprofit experience; passion for healthcare, nonprofit work, or community engagement.
