Jewish Youth Mentoring Macro/Mezzo Social Work Intern (Summer / Fall 2026) | Bellefaire JCB
The Tone:
This is an internship at Bellefaire JCB, located in Shaker Heights, OH. Bellefaire JCB is a partner agency of the Wingspan Care Group, a non-profit organization providing a united network of community-based services. This role is crucial for supporting the Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters Association by assisting with program coordination, volunteer recruitment, and event planning, ultimately strengthening the mentorship program for Jewish youth.
The TL;DR

• Type: Nontraditional, requiring some weekends and evenings for mentor/mentee contact and event support.
• Location: In-person, Shaker Heights, OH
• Team: Supports Bellefaire JCB’s Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters Association, reporting directly to the Program Director.
• Mission: To coordinate, support, and enhance the Jewish youth mentoring program through effective volunteer and match management, fundraising efforts, and community engagement.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate: Assist the Program Director, JBBBSA Board, and volunteers with various duties related to fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and fostering community partnerships.
• Supervise: Provide supportive supervision to mentors, mentees, and guardians as needed, maintaining the integrity of community-based mentoring matches throughout their entire lifecycle from introduction to closure.
• Comply: Ensure full adherence to JBBBSA program standards, including managing specified documents, policies, practices, and procedures, and utilizing program materials correctly.
• Administer: Manage all essential administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate records, scheduling and attending staff and monthly individual meetings with mentors, guardians, and mentees, and overseeing volunteer committees and program events.
• Advocate: Serve as a vital resource person, referral source, and advocate, connecting mentees and families to appropriate Bellefaire JCB and other community services as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Must be currently enrolled in graduate school pursuing a degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Nonprofit Management.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.
• Skills:
• Cultural Competency: Possess awareness, sensitivity, and skills for professional interaction with diverse individuals, groups, and communities.
• Interpersonal Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills with appropriate professional language.
• Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adhere to professional values like honesty and accountability, applying ethical concepts within the scope of work and following Agency policies.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Function effectively as a member of a professional team, including employees, clients, and family members.
• Problem Solving & Decision Making: Ability to recognize and respond to problems, gather information, identify root causes, and make timely decisions.
• Bonus: Valid Ohio Social Work Trainee (SWT) licensure preferred. Experience with social media is considered a plus.
