Graphic Design Intern | Utah Mammoth

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship position with the Utah Mammoth, part of the Smith Entertainment Group, located in Sandy, UT. The Utah Mammoth is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to join their Creative Team for the upcoming 26/27 season, with the internship running from July through the end of the season, including potential playoffs. This role is crucial for assisting the Senior Designer in the development and creation of various graphics across several brand touchpoints, ensuring strict adherence to brand guidelines. Projects will vary from single deliverables to multi-part campaigns, and the workload will fluctuate daily. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in current design trends and practices, playing a key part in the visual storytelling for the team.

• Tech Stack: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), MacOS, project management software.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Graphic Creation: Create and develop visual concepts and deliverables based on project needs, guided by the Senior Designer and Art Director.
• Design Support: Assist the design team with daily tasks, producing various graphics for Utah Mammoth and its associated properties.
• Skill Enhancement: Continually develop design skills, actively asking questions and striving to learn new techniques.
• Project Organization: Manage all assigned projects within the project management software, ensuring priorities remain organized.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively in a team environment and present ideas and deliverables clearly.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student level, ideally an undergraduate Junior or Senior studying Graphic Design or a related field. Candidates must provide a web or PDF design portfolio for review, as applications without one will not be considered.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong and relevant graphic design skills through a required web or PDF portfolio. Ability to work 20 to 25 hours per week at the office in Sandy, UT. Experience working on multiple projects concurrently, navigating quick turnarounds, and adhering to short deadlines while maintaining organization and adaptability.
• Skills: Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite on MacOS, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Strong understanding of typography, hierarchy, layout, and general design principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment, including offering ideas and implementing feedback. Willingness to learn and challenge oneself.
