The Tone:
This is an internship at Walgreens, a leading retail pharmacy chain dedicated to community health. This role is crucial for future pharmacists to gain hands-on experience by supporting pharmacy operations and delivering excellent patient care. The intern will learn and apply essential pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service best practices needed to perform as a future pharmacist.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Experience: Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Pharmacy Operations: Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy by processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions using pharmacy systems, and managing inventory activities.
• Patient Care Delivery: Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice, including patient counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and medication therapy management.
• Compliance & Safety: Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist, adhere to Company policies and procedures for quality improvement, and strictly comply with Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
• Sales & Service: Register sales on assigned cash registers, collect and handle cash as required, assist customers in locating products in the OTC aisle, and handle telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
• Experience: Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Skills: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
