Training Intern | DreamWorks Animation

The Tone:
This is an internship at DreamWorks Animation, located in Glendale, CA. DreamWorks Animation is a leading producer of high-quality, award-winning animated films and series, creating diverse original content for global audiences. In this role, the intern will support the vital Training Department, which ensures artists and teams across all production stages (like Animation, Effects, and Surfacing) receive essential instruction. This contribution directly helps the studio maintain its creative output and push boundaries in immersive storytelling.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-Time (24 hours per week required)
• Location: Hybrid, requiring in-person work Tuesday – Thursday in Glendale, CA
• Pay: $18.47 hourly
• Mission: This person supports the Training Department’s operations by managing class logistics, recording, editing, and administrative tasks, ensuring artists receive necessary instruction to create animated content.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, screen capture software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain Knowledge: Learn about the Training Department’s role within the studio and understand the training workflow for TV, Overhead, and Feature Departments such as Animation, Effects, and Surfacing.
• Supervise and Track: Supervise virtual, hybrid, and onsite classes, track attendance including data entry and Excel database maintenance, and record various classes using screen capture software.
• Edit Content: Edit recorded classes using Adobe Premiere to create polished training materials.
• Admin Support and Design: Handle administrative tasks and design posters to promote training classes as needed.
• Learn and Network: Attend virtual training classes to gain knowledge about the animation pipeline and software used for film creation, with opportunities to meet artists from various departments and develop skills in areas of interest.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at a college/university (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate within six months of graduation. Must be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Experience: Experience collecting and prioritizing data in Excel, along with video editing skills using software like Adobe Premiere.
• Skills: Basic design skills using software like Photoshop. Ability to confidently solve problems, handle time efficiently, pay close attention to details, and demonstrate strong communication skills as a proactive teammate with a can-do demeanor and efficient task prioritization.
• Bonus: Curiosity about animation or feature film production, and preferred customer service skills.
