T&D Intern | Veolia

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Veolia, occurring at one of its water/wastewater treatment facilities. Veolia in North America is the top-ranked environmental company, the country’s largest private water operator, and a leader in hazardous waste and pollution treatment. This role is crucial for introducing rising talent to the vital water/wastewater industry, contributing to community service and environmental protection within a mission-driven organization.

• Location: In-person, at a Veolia water/wastewater treatment facility
• Pay: $21 hourly
• Team: Transmission & Distribution Department, reports to an experienced full-time employee (FTE) and collaborates with the Regional Engineer.
• Mission: To gain hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in water/wastewater operations, engineering, and facility management, specifically within the Transmission & Distribution Department.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn daily operations: Learn and understand what is involved with the daily operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment facility.
• Gain T&D exposure: Gain hands-on learning and exposure to the fundamental business processes and procedures essential to the Transmission & Distribution Department’s operations.
• Perform facility tasks: Conduct laboratory, technical, maintenance, and groundskeeping work in the operation of a wastewater treatment facility.
• Support construction projects: Work with the Regional Engineer to discover the planning, development, and execution of construction projects at a water/wastewater facility.
• Receive specialized knowledge: Gain knowledge from experienced operations leaders who will teach and provide insights about their specialized areas.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student. High School Diploma/GED is required. This role is open to rising seniors and Tech School students interested in an introduction to the water/wastewater industry.
• Experience: No prior professional experience is explicitly required, but the role involves hands-on learning under the guidance of an experienced full-time employee.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, presentation, and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships; strong ability to follow instructions accurately; good organizational and time management skills.
• Bonus: A keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, a willingness to work under guidance, and reliable and punctual attendance.
