Education Support Coordinator | Westat

The Tone:
This is a part-time, seasonal role at Westat, located hybrid in Austin, TX. Westat is a leader in research, data collection and analysis, technical assistance, evaluation, and communications, helping clients in government and the private sector accelerate advancements in health, education, transportation, and social and economic policy. This entry-level position supports a federally funded technical assistance center serving state education agencies. The role is critical for strengthening the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) workflow and agency operations within the Office of the Commissioner, ideal for individuals interested in education systems, public service, and organizational improvement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Design: Create an updated and streamlined process for correspondence requested and signed by the Commissioner.
• Organization: Organize and standardize signed correspondence to align with the newly established process.
• Documentation: Create written process documentation and materials to support TEA staff adoption of new processes.
• Communication Strategy: Propose an internal communications approach to support TEA staff adoption of process changes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Others. High School diploma. Undergraduate level coursework in education, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: No minimum years specified; experience with cataloging, filing, or inventory processes is preferred; professional experience related to education, public affairs, or civic leadership is also preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel), excellent communication skills, ability to handle sensitive or official documents with discretion and professionalism.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar online project management tools.
