Intern, Security & Cloud Engineering | Lila Sciences
The Tone:
This is a co-op/internship opportunity at Lila Sciences for Summer 2026. Lila Sciences is pioneering a new era of discovery by building the world’s first scientific superintelligence platform and autonomous lab for life, chemistry, and materials science. This role is crucial for motivated students to gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop essential skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will directly impact the company by strengthening its security posture and assisting in building AI-driven automation for IT operations and security workflows.

What You’ll Actually Do
• End-User & IT Support: Provide technical assistance to employees by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, while also managing employee onboarding/offboarding processes, maintaining IT asset inventory, and improving support documentation.
• Cloud Infrastructure & Automation: Support the deployment and maintenance of cloud services across AWS, GCP, or Azure, assist in building and improving infrastructure as code with tools like Terraform or Pulumi, monitor cloud performance for cost optimization and scaling, and develop AI-powered agents to automate repetitive IT and security workflows.
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Monitor and respond to security alerts, assist with incident investigations, support vulnerability scanning and remediation for systems and cloud environments, aid in compliance activities such as access reviews and policy updates, and help strengthen endpoint and identity security using solutions like Okta and EDR platforms.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional projects involving cloud migrations, new tool integrations, or security improvements, and contribute to comprehensive documentation for cloud environments, security runbooks, and AI agent workflows.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related degree program, with foundational knowledge in cloud platforms, networking concepts, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required, but basic programming or scripting skills, with a preference for Python, are essential.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn new technologies, effective communication, collaborative teamwork, and good documentation habits.
• Bonus: Experience with cloud-native tools (Kubernetes, Docker, serverless functions), familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi), exposure to cybersecurity tools (SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, EDR platforms), knowledge of AI agent frameworks, or previous relevant internship/project experience.
