Product Management Internship | Firestorm

The Tone:
This is an internship at Firestorm, located in San Diego, CA. Firestorm is a VC-backed company at the intersection of defense and Silicon Valley, pioneering the development of mission-adaptable aerial vehicles and microfactories. The company aims to revolutionize how defense solutions are designed and delivered, empowering U.S. ally nations with cost-efficient technologies to deter aggressors, a vision they call “democratized deterrence.” This role is crucial for driving product development across the full lifecycle of Firestorm’s aircraft, software, and manufacturing systems, sitting at the intersection of hardware and software product management.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $28–$32 hourly
• Mission: Drive product development across the full lifecycle of autonomous aerial systems, software, and manufacturing systems, from translating user needs to technical implementation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Translate user and mission needs into clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for autonomous aerial systems and manufacturing systems.
• Partner with engineering teams to effectively scope and prioritize product development work.
• Drive the execution of product development all the way through technical implementation.
• Focus on developing and refining Tactical Apps, which are the software operators use to control drone flight and mission activities.
• Contribute to the software powering xCell, the microfactory system that produces autonomous aerial vehicles at the point of need.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior experience in project coordination or support. Must possess U.S. Person status (Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to ITAR regulations.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate across multiple teams and projects. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in iterative development environments.
• Bonus: Previous internship experience in a Product or Engineering role. Acquainted with the DoD or Aerospace sector.
