Alumni & Ambassador: Communities Intern | Kiva
The Tone:
This is a volunteer internship at Kiva, located remotely within the United States. Kiva is a global nonprofit expanding financial access and helping underserved communities thrive through crowdfunded loans. This role is critical for supporting and engaging Kiva’s remote supporters, specifically for two recently launched community initiatives: the Kiva Alumni Network and the Kiva Ambassador Community. The intern will play a direct role in the growth and development of these programs, acting as a key point of contact and contributing to community building.

• Team: Supports the Kiva Alumni Network and Kiva Ambassador Community, overseen by the Review and Translation Program.
• Mission: Support and engage Kiva’s remote supporters to aid the growth and development of new community programs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Community Engagement: Monitor Slack discussions and coordinate engagement and recognition efforts for the Alumni and Ambassador communities.
• Event Support: Support cross-functional event planning and motivational messaging for Kiva campaigns.
• Ambassador Recruitment: Research recruitment resources, post job descriptions, and assist with initial application screening.
• Content Development: Assist in creating new reference materials, such as FAQs and training videos.
• Process Enhancement: Provide input on streamlining recurring engagement responsibilities and propose initiatives to minimize manual administration.
The Must-Haves
• Background: At least 21 years of age by July 14, 2026, and a commitment to the full 6-month term (July 14, 2026 – December 31, 2026). Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
• Experience: No specific years required; demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter, execute new ideas, and interact with a wide range of people.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking with an eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication, highly organized, and intermediate proficiency in Google Docs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: An enjoyment for problem-solving and relationship building, with an aptitude for working in a start-up environment, and an interest in nonprofit or community management.
