Social Media & Content Creation Intern — Design / Video | Aebly Media
The Tone:
This is an unpaid internship at Aebly Media. The company operates a political news and civic engagement platform dedicated to helping people cut through bias and understand government, offering a full spectrum of news perspectives with bias scoring and AI summaries. It provides tools like a personal political compass, a legislation hub for tracking bills, and an election tab, all unified by the brand’s commitment to “politics without the noise.” This role is crucial for growing Aebly Media’s social media presence, creating visually engaging content that effectively tells the brand’s story and expands its audience across key platforms.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Team: Reports directly to Alex, the social media lead, who guides the brand’s social media efforts.
• Mission: To actively contribute to bringing the Aebly Media brand to life across platforms, producing visually compelling graphics, engaging posts, and informative videos that tell its story and grow its audience.
• Tech Stack: Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Final Cut Pro, CapCut
What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Create social media graphics and branded content for Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn.
• Video Editing: Edit short-form videos for various social media platforms.
• Brand Consistency: Help maintain a consistent visual style and voice across all posted content.
• Content Development: Brainstorm and execute content ideas alongside Alex and the team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An individual seeking practical experience, with an interest in design, video editing, and content creation for social media within the political news and civic engagement space.
• Experience: Proven experience utilizing design tools for graphic creation and video editing software for short-form content. Demonstrated comfort and capability in creating engaging content specifically for platforms such as Reels, TikTok, and Shorts.
• Skills: Possesses a strong aesthetic for clean, modern design and a keen ability to maintain brand consistency. Proficient in design tools including Canva, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator). Competent in video editing using software like CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Final Cut Pro.
• Bonus: Submission of a portfolio, reel, or examples of past creative work, encompassing school projects or personal social media pages.
