About the Role
This is a preparatory position designed to transition a Registered Nurse (RN) Intern into a credentialed and privileged New Graduate Staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Michigan Medicine. The role contributes to improving patient health by providing anesthesia and related care for diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. Initially, the intern works under the direct supervision of a CRNA, collaborating in a team environment, and later, once credentialed, provides care under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist.

What You’ll Do
• *During Internship:* Perform all duties and responsibilities under the direct supervision of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provider within the scope of practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) until certification and credentialing are successfully completed.
• *During Internship:* Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• *During Internship:* Collaborate with CRNA to prepare preoperative assessments including health histories and physical examinations.
• *During Internship:* Develop the Anesthesia Care Plan with the CRNA and Anesthesiologist.
• *During Internship:* Contribute to appropriate perioperative anesthesia care.
• *During Internship:* Contribute to and monitor appropriate patient records including quality assurance documentation.
• *During Internship:* Contribute to postoperative evaluations in accordance with department policies.
• *During Internship:* Participate in ongoing projects.
• *During Internship:* Support perioperative providers as appropriate.
• *During Internship:* Function in accordance with all institutional policies and guidelines.
• *During Internship:* Fulfill required weekday, weekend and holiday obligations.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Provide anesthesia and anesthesia related care to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic and/or surgical procedures to all patients regardless of age under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, working collaboratively in a team environment.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Prepare preoperative assessments including health histories and physical examinations.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Develop the Anesthesia Care Plan with the anesthesiologist.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Initiate and maintain appropriate perioperative anesthesia care.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Maintain appropriate patient records including quality assurance documentation.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Complete postoperative evaluations in accordance with department policies.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Participate in ongoing projects.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Support perioperative providers.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Function in accordance with all institutional policies and guidelines.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Maintain licensure, certification, credentialing, and current BLS and ACLS or PALS status at all times.
• *Once Credentialing And Privileging Have Been Achieved:* Fulfill required weekday, weekend and holiday obligations.

You’re a Good Fit If You
• Have a current and accurate resume and application completed.
• Hold a minimum of a Master degree with graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program on or before 09/01//2026.
• Have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
• Have current ACLS and BLS certification.
• Are able to wear appropriate (PPE) personal protective equipment including but not limited to lead vests and aprons, powered air purifying respirators (PAPR) and N-95 masks.
• Are self-directed, reliable, demonstrate initiative and motivation to work independently.
• Exhibit excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Successfully complete the National Certification Exam (NCE) within 45 days of graduating from an accredited CRNA program.
• Initiate and provide Michigan Nurse Anesthetist Specialty certification documentation as soon as possible following successful completion of the NCE.
• Successfully complete the credentialing and privileging process through Michigan Medicine.
• Demonstrate satisfactory performance in the Intern role.
• Secure other Michigan Medicine employment by 6 months in the Intern position.
• Maintain Michigan Registered Nurse licensure, specialty certification, credentialing, privileging, and current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Bonus Qualifications
• Have a scheduled date for National Certification Exam secured.
• Have five years of adult ICU nursing experience.
• Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hold a Doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program in the next 4 months.

Role Highlights & Compensation
• Hourly range for Registered Nurses $41.78-$64.81/ hour.
• Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour.
• Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour.

• This position involves radiation exposure and the requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Expected to work 40 hours per week with Day/Evening/Night rotation, including weekday, weekend, and holiday obligations.
• Involves variable shift start times and shift lengths, as well as weekday, weekend, and holiday call obligations.
• Upon successful completion of probation as a new graduate staff CRNA, seniority accrued will begin with the original date of hire as an Intern.
• Internal hires are exempt from the probationary period.
• There are nine (9) open positions.
