Radiology Assistant | United Health Services

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at United Health Services, located within the Radiology Department of UHS Wilson Medical Center in New York’s Southern Tier. United Health Services is a locally owned, not-for-profit healthcare system that includes four hospitals, long-term care, home care services, and physician practices, serving a significant portion of the region. The Radiology Assistant plays a vital supportive role, ensuring the department’s operations are efficient, timely, and responsive, which directly enhances the patient experience and overall departmental effectiveness.

• Team: Reports to a Radiology Supervisor, working collaboratively with technical and clerical staff to support departmental functions.
• Mission: To provide comprehensive and reliable assistance to the Radiology Department, focusing on patient and equipment logistics, inventory management, patient monitoring, and quality assurance to optimize patient flow and customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Supply Management: Systematically orders, maintains, and distributes appropriate levels of linen and stockroom supplies, ensuring that weekly department needs are consistently met without disruption to services.
• Patient Transportation: Efficiently performs patient transportation across all areas of Diagnostic Radiology, responding promptly to requests from technical staff members to maintain patient flow and schedule adherence.
• Equipment Transportation: Manages and performs the transportation of various equipment essential to Radiology operations, ensuring its timely movement as requested by technical staff members for diagnostic procedures.
• Patient Monitoring: Actively monitors patients while they are situated within the Radiology Department, collaborating with the control area person to maintain timely patient throughput and promptly alerting technical staff to any patient needs or concerns.
• Operational Support & Quality: Executes film processing functions during peak hours of operation, demonstrates proficiency in maintaining processor functionality, and conducts daily QA testing to ensure optimal processor operating levels are consistently maintained, reporting malfunctions to the radiology supervisor.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required for this role beyond the minimum education.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability in patient transportation, equipment transportation, inventory management, patient monitoring, film processing functions, and daily quality assurance testing.
