Academic Resources Graduate Assistant | Lakeland University

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Lakeland University, located in Plymouth, WI. The Academic Resources Graduate Assistant position is integral to supporting the academic needs of all Lakeland students, splitting time between the Life and Career Studies (LCS) program and the Hayssen Academic Resource Center (HARC). The role is vital in upholding the university’s mission and values, ensuring resources are stewarded effectively, and fostering a collaborative environment to achieve educational goals.

The TL;DR
• Role: Part Time
• Location: In-person, Plymouth, WI
• Pay: $600–$650 monthly
• Team: Supports students under the leadership of the LCS Program Coordinator and HARC Director, collaborating with other GAs and staff.
• Mission: To provide comprehensive academic support, coaching, and resource access to enhance student success and skill development across Lakeland University.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Academic Coaching: Provide direct academic coaching for 3 inclusive Lakeland courses (9-10 credits) each semester, including in-class support and guided study halls for LCS students.
• Resource Development: Assist the HARC director in developing and providing access to resources that support both in-person and online learning for all students.
• Student Engagement & Outreach: Maintain the HARC’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook, promoting engagement and learning activities like study sessions and end-of-term events.
• Instruction & Skill Development: Assist with instruction and provide 1:1 support related to independent living skills such as time management and organization for LCS students, and co-instruct a course in the second year.
• Program Operations & Guidance: Under the leadership of the program coordinator, assist in the day-to-day operations of the Life and Career Studies program and provide direction to peer undergraduate academic coaches and volunteers.

• Background: Must have completed a bachelor’s degree and be offered and accepted admission to a Lakeland University graduate program.
• Experience: A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain trust and strong relationships with others, working collaboratively to meet objectives.
• Skills: Possess excellent leadership and decision-making skills, effective communication and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently, plan, and provide instruction to individuals and small groups.
• Bonus: A genuine interest in supporting students’ academic needs, demonstrating a positive demeanor, sensitivity, and motivation to learn effective support strategies, along with professionalism and dependability.
