Are you passionate about reducing poverty and strengthening communities? Join Treasure Coast Food Bank (TCFB) as a VISTA Summer Associate and support efforts to advance the Ending Hunger Initiative across St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Indian River counties. Summer Associates will contribute to both direct service activities and capacity-building efforts that strengthen program delivery, expand community reach, and improve access to food and supportive services. All Summer Associates will complete a capstone project, guided by staff and aligned with Ending Hunger Initiative priorities.

Program Description
Treasure Coast Food Bank Summer Associates will support the Ending Hunger Initiative, a multi-county effort designed to:
- Increase access to nutritious food
- Strengthen connections between neighbors and supportive services
- Improve program effectiveness and community reach
- Address the root causes of food insecurity
Associates will be assigned based on program needs, skillset, and interest. This is a 10-week assignment requiring a commitment of approximately 20–25 hours per week, based on program needs and assignment priorities.
Summer Associate Responsibilities May Include
Child Nutrition Summer Support
- Assist with meal preparation and food safety practices for seasonal child nutrition programs
- Support distribution tracking and compliance requirements
- Engage with neighbors to support participation and access
- Contribute to consistency and effectiveness of summer meal programs
Programmatic Coordination & Support
- Assist with in-house program support and coordination
- Support program setup, execution, and organization
- Contribute to documentation, tracking, and process improvements
Mobile Pantry Programming Support
- Support Market Fresh and other mobile food distribution programs
- Assist with on-site setup, coordination, and service flow
- Engage directly with community members
- Contribute to improving access and reach of mobile programs
Marketing & Communications Support (Limited Placement)
- Assist with social media content and storytelling
- Capture program impact and community engagement
- Support communications aligned with Ending Hunger Initiative efforts
Additional Program Support
- Provide driving support in alignment with program needs, using a company vehicle, as applicable
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the start of service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in community impact, service delivery, and anti-poverty initiatives
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable engaging with diverse populations
- Basic computer and technology proficiency
- Individuals with lived experience related to food insecurity or the communities we serve are strongly encouraged to apply
Preferred (Not Required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in community programs or service environments
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, or degree preferred.
- Creative or social media skills (for marketing placement)
- Bilingual language skills
