Role Summary
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Early Career Mechanical Engineer. In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in overseeing projects, meticulously accessing and reviewing contract drawings, and skillfully implementing necessary changes. The ideal candidate will possess experience and/or knowledge in team-oriented project work and demonstrate strong technical writing abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned projects from inception to completion.
- Access and thoroughly review contract drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Implement necessary changes to designs and documentation.
- Actively participate in team-oriented project work.
- Contribute to technical documentation and reports.
Important Information Regarding this Position
- This position will require a government security clearance.
- This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or an equivalent related field.
- Project Experience: Experience on at least one team-based technical project.
- Mechanical Fundamentals: A solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams).
Desired Skills
- Technical Writing: The ability to produce clear, concise, and audience-focused documentation that explains complex technical concepts, procedures, or specifications in an easy-to-understand and readily usable manner.
- Problem Solving and Analytical Abilities: The capacity to identify root causes, break down complex issues into manageable components, evaluate alternatives, and develop logical, evidence-based solutions efficiently.
- Effective Written and Communication Skills: The ability to convey ideas, instructions, and feedback accurately and persuasively through written mediums (emails, reports, presentations), while also adapting tone and style to suit different audiences.
- AI/Machine Learning Familiarity: Basic to intermediate knowledge of AI/ML concepts, tools, and workflows.

Work Schedule and Benefits
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from a standard 40 hours over a five-day work week, while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits.
National Pay Statement
The base range for this position in New Jersey is $61,500 – $116,455.
Benefits offered include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. The wage range and benefits summary is a general guideline and is governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
