Engineering Intern | Energy Transfer

The Tone:
This is an internship at Energy Transfer, likely located in the West Texas region for a summer program. Energy Transfer moves America’s energy as a diversified infrastructure partnership, delivering natural gas, crude oil, and refined products domestically and globally. This role is essential for supporting these operations by helping interns become familiar with critical energy assets and gain practical experience. The intern’s contributions support the continuous and reliable delivery of energy to the nation and beyond.

• Mission: Become familiar with energy portfolio assets, gaining experience in natural gas and/or liquids handling from gathering to export.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Asset Familiarization: Become familiar with the assets in our energy portfolio, gaining experience in natural gas and liquids gathering, processing, treating, transmission, storing, and export.
• System Analysis: Perform process simulation and system modeling.
• Engineering Calculations: Conduct gas and fluid flow measurements and execute pipe and vessel sizing calculations.
• Field Operations: Observe day-to-day field operations of pipeline, storage, and terminal systems, and understand equipment functions and maintenance requirements.
• Regulatory Review: Review current federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations that impact facilities, and assess facility compliance with authorizations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program majoring in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, having completed a minimum of sophomore-level engineering courses.
• Experience: Involvement in activities outside college studies; demonstrated self-motivation and an above-average GPA.
• Skills: Foundational knowledge in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering principles; ability to apply engineering concepts to tasks like process simulation, fluid flow, and sizing calculations; strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Bonus: Proficiency with MS Office; strong willingness to learn; excellent attention to detail; ability to work independently; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and organize various functions; a team player able to work with a diverse workforce; willing to travel.
