Early Career Aviation Planner (entry level) | WSP

The Tone:
This is an early career, full-time role at WSP, located in Raleigh, NC, with other locations potentially acceptable and remote work flexibility available. WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm dedicated to designing lasting solutions across various markets including buildings, transportation, energy, water, and environment. This role contributes to the Aviation Team by supporting aviation planning projects nationwide, helping to meet client objectives and solve challenges from access roads to runways within a growing organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Produce computer-aided designs for various aviation project components.
• Management: Manage and organize project records and documentation effectively.
• Analysis: Perform calculations and analyze data to support planning initiatives.
• Research: Conduct online data research and assist with field investigations.
• Presentation: Research technical topics and present findings to project teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Engineering (or closely related discipline) from an accredited program, demonstrating knowledge of aviation planning and/or engineering theories and principles.
• Experience: 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Skills: Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel and Word; competence in written and oral communications in English; good grasp of engineering/planning applications such as AutoCAD, AviPlan, and InfraWorks; ability to manage multiple project priorities; and a collaborative team player.
• Bonus: Prior experience with a planning or engineering firm, an airport, a state department of transportation, or other aviation stakeholder (including through internship or co-op); knowledge of aviation operations, management, planning, and/or engineering; familiarity with CAD software solutions (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation); familiarity with aviation-specific applications (e.g., AviPLAN Airside Pro); knowledge of GIS, runwaySimulator, CAST, or SIMMOD.
