Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure and services (primarily AWS, but open to multi-cloud experience).
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Build and manage robust CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and release management.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure seamless integration of applications into the cloud platform and provide expert guidance on cloud best practices.
• Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the health, performance, and availability of our systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog).
• Drive automation efforts across all operational aspects, reducing manual toil and improving efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in production environments.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulations, implementing robust security measures across the platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance our cloud capabilities and improve our development velocity.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Platform Engineering role.
• Deep expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with a preference for AWS.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
• Extensive experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding and experience with CI/CD methodologies and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, GitHub Actions).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Load Balancing) and security best practices in the cloud.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional) or similar cloud certifications.
• Experience with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Fargate).
• Knowledge of database systems, both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with message queues and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, SQS, Kinesis).
• Experience in a regulated industry or with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).
• Open-source contributions or active participation in tech communities.
