The Tone:
This is a temporary, part-time role at Henrico County Public Schools – Varina High School, located in Henrico, VA. HCPS is one of Virginia’s largest public school divisions, recognized for its educational programs. This assistant coaching position is crucial for fostering fair play, confidence, and self-discipline in student-athletes. You will help develop their hockey skills within an interscholastic competition setting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Organization: Assist the head coach in the overall organization of the field hockey program.
• Athlete Supervision: Supervise student-athletes during daily practices and at games.
• Player Preparation: Prepare players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through skill instruction and rule knowledge.
• Equipment Care: Assist in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Prior experience in the sport of field hockey.
• Experience: Required prior experience participating in the referenced sport.
• Skills: Ability to teach fundamental hockey skills, knowledge of game rules, player development, and equipment management.
• Bonus: Prior coaching experience is preferred.
