Student Assistant-Engineering Architectural Sciences | State Air Resources Board

The Tone:
This is a part-time student assistant role for the State Air Resources Board (CARB), located in Riverside County, CA, with a hybrid work option. CARB is a highly respected environmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of all Californians by addressing air quality and climate change. This position supports the critical Heavy Duty Greenhouse Gas certification program, offering paraprofessional assistance that helps ensure the accuracy and efficiency of vehicle emissions data processing.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $18.27–$28.16 hourly
• Team: Reports to the Section Manager
• Mission: Provide paraprofessional support to the Heavy Duty Greenhouse Gas certification program, assisting technical staff with data management and administrative tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Gather, tabulate, and analyze engine/powertrain/vehicle certification emissions data submitted by manufacturers for their vehicle families.
• Database Management: Update and maintain complex certification databases to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
• Document Preparation: Scan Executive Orders and prepare them for public web-posting.
• Communication Support: Draft segments of reports and various correspondences as directed.
• Operational Assistance: Perform any other necessary duties to meet the ongoing needs of the section.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Active student status in a program related to Engineering or Architectural Sciences. Early Career.
• Experience: Prior experience in data collection, organization, administrative support, or technical assistance is beneficial.
• Skills: Data gathering and analysis, Database maintenance, Report preparation, Written communication.
• Bonus: Eligibility for preference under Government Code section 18220 (dependent child in foster care, homeless youth, or formerly incarcerated youth).
