General Summary

The Health Administration Program at Eastern Michigan University is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Assistant (GA) to play a pivotal role in supporting crucial program functions. This position offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in program management, recruitment, marketing, and research within an academic setting. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the program’s visibility and attracting prospective students by developing innovative marketing materials, coordinating outreach initiatives, and serving as a primary point of contact. Additionally, the GA will actively contribute to the program’s continuous improvement through research and analysis, working closely with faculty and staff to support a dynamic learning environment.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Provide comprehensive assistance to faculty and program staff in the organization and execution of meetings, workshops, and various program events.
  • Support daily administrative operations, including efficient scheduling, managing professional communications, and systematic document organization.

Student Recruitment & Engagement

  • Lead the coordination of recruitment events, including information sessions, open houses, and campus presentations, to attract a diverse pool of applicants.
  • Act as a primary liaison, engaging proactively with both current and prospective students to disseminate detailed program information and offer essential guidance.
  • Spearhead the creation and development of compelling marketing materials, utilizing both traditional formats like flyers and modern digital content, to effectively promote the program.
  • Foster and strengthen collaborative relationships with university partners and community colleges to establish and enhance robust transfer pipelines.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate effective outreach strategies aimed at significantly increasing the recruitment of prospective students.

Research & Program Development

  • Actively support faculty and staff in various research projects, including methodical data collection, comprehensive literature reviews, and analysis.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of current industry trends and best practices within health administration to identify opportunities for enhancing and expanding program offerings.
  • Assist in the meticulous compilation of reports and professional presentations for diverse academic and administrative applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a graduate program at Eastern Michigan University.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational acumen and exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to excel both independently and collaboratively within a professional academic environment.
  • A genuine interest in the fields of health administration, academic research, and student engagement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for administrative and presentation tasks.
  • Familiarity and practical experience with design software, such as Canva or similar platforms, for creating visually appealing flyers and digital content.

Additional Information

Hours & Compensation:
This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 150 hours per semester. Compensation will be provided in accordance with Eastern Michigan University guidelines for graduate assistant roles.
Appointment Percentage: 100%
