About the Job: Public Sector Business Development Intern

Zayo is seeking a motivated and analytical Public Sector Business Development Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic telecommunications infrastructure industry while directly contributing to Zayo’s growth within the critical government segment. You will work closely with our sales and development teams, identifying and pursuing strategic growth opportunities that fuel innovation and digital transformation across public sector entities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Public Sector Business Development Intern, you will play a crucial role in Zayo’s efforts to expand its reach and impact within the government sector. Your responsibilities will include:

Public Sector Focus

• Monitor and analyze federal and state funding opportunities relevant to telecommunications infrastructure.
• Provide essential support in the development of compelling proposals for government-funded connectivity projects.
• Conduct in-depth research and track state-specific funding allocations and associated requirements.
• Assist in proactively identifying eligible grant opportunities that align with Zayo’s services.
• Help develop tailored connectivity solutions specifically designed to meet the unique needs of public sector clients.

Business Development Support

• Contribute to the creation of targeted prospect lists, focusing on new customers, top-billing clients, priority segments, and relevant contract vehicles.
• Support the preparation and execution of outbound campaign initiatives and broader sales efforts.
• Assist in maintaining and updating customer relationship management (CRM) databases to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Actively participate in sales meetings and training sessions to gain industry insights and enhance skills.

Project Coordination

• Assist in coordinating effectively with various cross-functional teams across Zayo’s organization to ensure seamless project execution and collaboration.

Qualifications

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who meets the following criteria:

• Must have completed their sophomore year and be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate-seeking program for the fall semester of 2026.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a government-focused field such as Arts in Government, Political Science, or Public Administration (BPA).
• Possesses excellent communication (written and verbal) and strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Exhibits strong problem-solving capabilities, coupled with excellent analytical and research skills.
• An action-oriented self-starter who can independently complete tasks, take initiative, and effectively integrate feedback.
• A genuine interest in the telecommunications industry and network infrastructure.

Estimated Compensation

The estimated base pay range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00 USD/hour.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance and 401(k).

The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days. The active posting will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
