Position Summary

The Junior Underwriter plays a critical role in assessing the creditworthiness of commercial loan applications. This position involves utilizing multiple data sources to assign risk ratings, perform financial analysis, and, in some cases, approve loans, all while ensuring adherence to internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and established timeframes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use multiple sources of information, including credit scores, financial statements, collateral appraisals, and cash flow analysis, to assign risk ratings to loans.
  • Complete comprehensive analysis of varying applicant’s financial status, and in some situations, provide approval for loans.
  • Collect, review, and analyze moderate data to prepare detailed credit analyses that evaluate the terms and creditworthiness of commercial loan applications.
  • Make recommendations and decisions within established internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and set timeframes.
  • Assure efficient operation and adherence to security, audit, and control procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties as required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Preferred: Knowledge of loan products, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 0-1 years of related experience.
  • Education Level: General and business knowledge equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Driver’s License: Not required for this position.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Ability to sit for extended time periods.
  • Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

The figure below serves as the entry point in our salary range, and there is potential for the actual salary to be higher based on a variety of factors, such as your experience, skills, education, and location. The Minimum Salary For This Position Is: $22.59+/hr
