What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping: Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Process Support: Support month-end and year-end closeout processes to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Transaction Management: Prepare and submit journal entries with proper documentation and obtain necessary approvals.
• Document Verification: Review and verify the accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, and other accounting documents.
• Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including financial statements and audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a basic understanding of accounting principles, suitable for an entry-level position focused on a governmental context.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting, with familiarity in fund accounting or governmental accounting systems.
• Skills: General Ledger, Accounting Principles, Month-End Close Processes, Journal Entry Preparation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Reconciliation, Microsoft Excel.
• Bonus: A desire to obtain a Master’s degree in accounting or a CPA license, and prior governmental accounting experience is a plus.
