Unpaid Remote Youth Civic Engagement & Activism Internship/Volunteer Opportunity

Join TurnUp, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic engagement and activism, to help strengthen democracy in the United States. This is an unpaid, remote opportunity for mission-driven young people across the U.S. to participate in activism on critical progressive and social justice issues.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Work in teams to participate in grassroots activism and advocacy on civic and social justice issues (e.g., climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, combating voter suppression).
  • Conduct research to become better educated and aware about these topics.
  • Join and assist with existing voter registration drives at your school.
  • Initiate and perform your own peer-to-peer or drive-based voter registration efforts (with school permission), if no existing drive is present.
  • Collaborate on various tasks, communicate regularly, and meet virtually on a weekly basis.
  • Participate in civic actions, work on voter turnout projects, perform targeted outreach, and engage in advocacy.
  • Find and participate in volunteer opportunities together.
  • Attend the TurnUp Speaker Series.
  • Conduct civic and activism-related research and writing.
