About the Internship

This is an unpaid, remote internship specifically designed for college students or recent graduates who are actively working towards launching a creative career. Interns will receive valuable mentorship and, depending on their institution’s requirements, may earn school credit. The role involves close collaboration with Ying Compestine, alongside significant independent work. Applicants must be located in the US.

Many college students acquire valuable knowledge from their education but often lack full preparation for the challenges of self-promotion, business negotiation, and effective career management. This internship offers comprehensive exposure to all facets of the creative world, with a particular emphasis on business acumen.

Hours & Duration

  • Days are flexible, and hours may vary.
  • Approximately 20-25 hours per week.
  • 1-3 hours dedicated to virtual meetings 5 times a week, typically scheduled around 12 PM to 3 PM PST.
  • The remaining hours are dedicated to completing assigned tasks.
  • The position lasts for a duration of 12 months.

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship for a duration of up to 12 months. College credit is available, subject to institutional approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Researching, writing, editing, and drafting business emails to movie studios, editors, and agents on behalf of the author.
  • Managing the author’s travel schedule.
  • Organizing publicity photos.
  • Updating the author’s social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter).
  • Processing financial statements, tracking payments, and preparing invoices.
  • Supporting manuscripts in various stages of development.
  • Staying current with publishing trends, industry changes, and entertainment news.

Requirements

  • Academic Status: Applicants must be current college students or recent graduates. Juniors and Seniors are preferred.
  • Location: Applicants must be located in the US.
  • Software Mastery: Mastery of Gmail, Google Drive, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Design Proficiency: Proficient with Adobe Products such as Photoshop, Premiere, or other similar apps. Proficient with Canva or other graphic design products.
  • Social Media & Technology: Proficient with various social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter) and mobile technology (smartphone, tablet).
  • Organizational & Time Management: Excellent memory and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively. Top-notch organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Personality & Work Ethic: Adaptive and flexible personality with the ability to adjust with a can-do attitude. Must be self-directed and independent in a busy environment. Able to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions. Extremely detail-oriented, ensuring daily responsibilities are executed with accuracy and minimal mistakes.
