Junior Design Support Intern | The Gathering Spot

The Tone:
This is an internship at The Gathering Spot, located in Atlanta, GA. The Gathering Spot builds a vibrant community experience through engaging digital content and thoughtfully designed physical spaces. This role matters as it provides an emerging designer with hands-on experience in brand design, contributing daily to projects that impact the community across various platforms and environments.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Atlanta, GA (In-person)

• Team: Social team, reporting to the Social Media Coordinator
• Mission: To create cohesive and impactful visual content that strengthens brand consistency and enhances the member experience across digital and physical touchpoints.
• Tech Stack: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, Figma

What You’ll Actually Do
• Digital Content: Assist in designing graphics, animations, and video content for social media campaigns across various platforms.
• Environmental Graphics: Support the design of wayfinding signage, directional graphics, informational displays, and promotional posters for in-club spaces.
• Promotional Materials: Create promotional graphics for member events, programming, announcements, and assist with print collateral like flyers and brochures.
• Content Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Media Coordinator to execute content calendars and campaigns, learning to manage multiple projects.
• Creative Input: Participate in team brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for new content and design approaches.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career individual currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
• Experience: A portfolio demonstrating design skills across both digital and print mediums, coupled with basic video editing capabilities.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), familiarity with social media platforms and content formats, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Bonus: Previous internship or freelance design experience, basic motion graphics or animation skills, photography or videography experience, or a personal social media/creative portfolio showcasing your perspective.
