The Tone:
This is a casual, temporary role at Grand Wailea, a gorgeous Waldorf Astoria Resort located in Wailea, Maui. Grand Wailea, a Forbes 4-Star, AAA 4-Diamond property, operates on 40 acres of lush tropical gardens and is consistently ranked among the world’s best resorts. As a Counselor, you will be a vital part of the Recreation Team, leading and directing children through supervised recreational activities to deliver outstanding guest service and contribute to the resort’s financial profitability.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Children’s Activity Leadership: Lead, teach, and interact with children aged 5-12 (occasionally 13-17 during busy seasons) through supervised recreational activities, including swimming, ensuring exceptional childcare.
• Workshop Instruction: Plan, create, prepare, and instruct stimulating activities such as poolside crafts, private hula lessons, lei making, handmade jewelry, and acrylic canvas painting classes.
• Guest Services & Sales: Greet, register, and check guests in and out of camp sessions and specialty classes, resolve guest challenges, promote hotel services, and upsell products.
• Payment Processing & Concessions: Collect and process cash, credit card, and room charge payments for camp fees, concession items, and workshops, including making and selling shave ice, popcorn, and cotton candy.
• Safety & Facility Upkeep: Act as a first responder for water rescues and medical emergencies, render First Aid and/or CPR, ensure guest safety, and maintain the cleanliness of the facility, snack shop, and craft areas.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma.
• Experience: At least 9 months experience working with children from the ages of 5-12 years old.
• Skills: Childcare leadership, activity planning and instruction, guest registration and payment processing, first aid and CPR, and facility cleanliness maintenance.
