Junior Designer – Landscape Architecture | SOM

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Contribution: Contribute to the development of project aspects under the direct supervision of project leadership.
• Deliverable Production: Produce presentation and contract deliverables, including diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models, and animations.
• Conceptual Design: Create and innovate with strong conceptual design ability, integrating interdisciplinary criteria to advance project component design.
• Team Collaboration: Actively collaborate at the project team level by critically and constructively evaluating ideas.
• Workload Management: Manage time and workload to meet project task deadlines and commitments with direction from Project Leadership.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Formal education suitable for an early career position, aligning with the Year One program’s focus on individuals starting their professional journey in Landscape Architecture.
• Experience: Submission of work samples demonstrating abilities in design, documentation, and a basic understanding of landscape and site related materials, systems, specifications, codes, details, and construction techniques.
• Skills: Strong conceptual design ability; effective communication through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means; problem-solving and decision quality with high attention to precision and accuracy; elementary knowledge of Architecture and Planning disciplines.
