Junior Designer – Sustainable Engineering | SOM

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaboration: Partner with MEP engineering and other design studios to implement and document green building technologies and strategies for projects.
• Analysis: Conduct day lighting and solar radiation analyses for various building and master planning projects.
• Simulation: Perform energy simulations to evaluate the overall energy performance of buildings.
• Assessment: Execute basic calculations to determine the applicability and potential energy yields of renewable technologies.
• Reporting: Develop and prepare sustainability presentations and written reports for projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Recent completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, qualifying you for an early career position.
• Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable and green building design and/or construction, including proficiency with the LEED Green Building Rating System and other green building rating systems. Must also have a proven ability to conduct independent research.
• Skills: Expertise in building simulation tools such as EnergyPlus, Radiance, Diva, Ecotect, Virtual Environment, and/or computational fluid dynamics software. Proficiency is also required in AutoCAD, Rhino, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Bonus: A Master’s Degree in architecture, engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with LEED accreditation and experience with BIM software such as Revit Digital Projects and Rhino.
