Position Overview: Summer Analyst/Associate Internship Program

Our 8-10 week Summer Analyst/Associate Internship program is designed to mirror the full-time analyst experience, providing interns with a comprehensive understanding of our business and hands-on project work. Interns collaborate closely with senior colleagues on live client consulting projects within their assigned practice area.

Successful interns are typically offered a full-time position upon graduation.

Key Responsibilities During the Internship

During the internship program, you may work on many aspects of a project, including:

  • Working alongside and in a collaborative environment with talented and diverse colleagues, including PhD-trained economists, finance and accounting professionals (CFAs and CPAs), and valuation experts.
  • Conducting economic and industry research, and analyzing client materials to develop a deep understanding of case issues.
  • Performing and developing financial and economic analyses or valuation models to support case theories, and presenting these results to colleagues and clients.
  • Programming, building models, and performing regression analyses using languages such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, SQL, or SAS.
  • Investigating accounting irregularities and responding to allegations of fraud, misconduct, waste, and abuse.
  • Utilizing accounting and financial skills to prepare analyses of financial data, including financial models, for litigation and expert reports and testimony.
  • Investigating and analyzing financial evidence, including financial records and transactions, to identify trends and anomalies, and clearly and concisely organizing and summarizing findings.
  • Leveraging database skills to effectively analyze large data sets.
  • Communicating with team members, clients, and other professionals to share investigative and analytical findings, and assisting with the drafting of written reports to summarize procedures performed and findings.

Desired Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidates graduating in December 2026/Summer 2027 with an academic focus in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related area.
  • Knowledge Base: Solid working knowledge of finance, accounting, and economic methodologies. Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate governance, and regulatory environments.
  • Analytical Skills: Command of a broad range of research and quantitative analysis skills, including strong Excel proficiency. Experience in gathering, standardizing, and analyzing voluminous transactional data. Experience in data analysis and intelligence gathering, including querying and mining large data sets to discover transaction patterns, examining financial data, and filtering for targeted information.
  • Problem-Solving: Curious and analytical thinkers who bring creative approaches to non-standard problems.
  • Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Initiative & Leadership: Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
  • Teamwork: Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
  • Organization: Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Interest in Consulting: Clear and demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events.

Work Location Flexibility

CRA fosters a work environment that balances the benefits of in-office collaboration with individual flexibility. We currently ask that individuals spend 3 to 4 days a week on average working in the office (which may include traveling to another CRA office or to a client’s location), with specific days determined in coordination with your practice or team.

Compensation

For individuals applying to work in our New York, California, and Washington DC offices, a good-faith estimate of the base wage range for this role is $30 – $36 per hour. Actual total compensation may also include benefits and bonus, and will consider factors such as experience, education level, and expertise.
