YMCA Child Watch Attendant Job Description
A Y Child Watch Attendant provides quality care to children 12 weeks to 8 years of age at our membership center Kids Zone. This role is crucial in supporting the YMCA’s mission of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility by ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children in the Kids Zone.
- Interact with children on their level of understanding, fostering positive relationships and engagement.
- Provide age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts, and implement YMCA approved curriculum.
- Adhere to good health practices including, but not limited to: changing diapers, thorough hand washing, cleaning play surfaces and toys, and attending to runny noses and mouths.
- Warmly greet each child and family upon their arrival and departure.
- Accurately maintain records of children participating in the program.
- Immediately notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Child Watch area layout for safety reasons, along with all building emergency procedures.
- Be responsible for proper injury/accident reporting procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of all required training and certifications.
- Ensure the Child Watch area is consistently safe, clean, and well organized.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to reflect a positive image and attitude consistently.
- At least 16 years of age.
- Certifications: Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of employment (free training available).
- Demonstrated ability, desire, and basic skills to work effectively with children.
- Ability to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner.
